How to store ghee so it lasts for months

No preservatives, no fridge, no fuss. Three rules and one thing people get wrong.

Pure ghee has almost no water and no milk solids left in it, which is exactly why it keeps for months at room temperature without a single preservative.

Use a dry spoon. Water is the only real enemy. A wet spoon introduces moisture, and moisture invites spoilage.

Keep the lid closed and the jar out of direct sunlight. An ordinary kitchen shelf is perfect.

Do not refrigerate it. It will harden and you will fight it every morning. Room temperature keeps it scoopable.

And the thing people get wrong: if your ghee turns grainy in winter and liquid in summer, nothing has gone wrong. That is ghee behaving exactly like ghee.
